ASLE Technologies in Edmonton, Alberta is an agricultural inputs provider seeking a highly motivated Fermenter Operator. This person will be expected to play an integral part of ASLE manufacturing team located in Edmonton, AB.

The Fermenter Operator is responsible for operation of the fermentation plant and providing support for production. This includes maintenance, equipment reliability, and operations. Creativity and decision-making skills are required. Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with all personnel. Fermentation plant operator requires to have knowledge in the Plant controls, monitors, and measures fermentation processes as required. Abides by all safely, environmental, and quality requirements. Perform minor maintenance and up-keeping of the unit

Job Title: Fermenter Operator

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

​

Responsibilities:

• Operate multi-function process control fermentation machinery through control panels, and other control systems to extract and mix ingredients for the production.

• Observe gauges, LCD displays to verify specified processing conditions and make adjustments to process variables such as extraction times, ingredient inputs, flow rates and temperature settings etc., 

• Prepare fermentation unit and downstream equipment in accordance with SOPs, this includes equipment setup, media make up, equipment disassembly, cleaning, etc.

• Manage and maintain the production equipment along with raw materials.

• Collect samples during manufacturing process for analytical analysis.

• Assist in R&D and analytics as needed.

• Prepare all required batch records to ensure clear communication to the production manager.

• Coordinate day-to-day Fermentation Plant activities, including manufacturing scheduling, coordinating equipment maintenance, optimizing operations.

• Maintain the upkeep of the Fermentation Plant equipment through the process of initiating work notifications/work orders and maintenance scheduling.

• Adhere to company EH&S policies and procedure. Ensure fermentation plant compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.

• Must be able to wear required protective equipment including respirators (if needed).

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years fermentation or related plant operator experience.

• Hands-on experience in operating fermenters (large scale fermenter >1000L).

• Must be able to follow minimal instructions and support safe work practices.

• work in a multi-disciplinary team as an excellent team member with strong communication skills and a desire to work collaboratively.

• Must be flexible with day-to-day duties and able to thrive in a start-up environment.

• Must hold the highest professional and ethical standards.

• Familiar with microbiological and analytical laboratory procedures.

• Demonstrates flexibility in job rotations/various assignments.

• Basic PC skills which include Windows, Microsoft Office.
